Jewellery Care
Each piece of Phoebe Simpson Jewellery is designed to be worn and enjoyed every day. Your jewellery has been carefully made by hand using precious metals and traditional casting techniques. With a little care, it will age beautifully and last for many years.
General Care
To keep your jewellery looking its best:
Remove jewellery before swimming, bathing, or showering
Avoid contact with perfumes, lotions, cleaning products, and chemicals
Remove jewellery during heavy physical activity or gardening
Store pieces separately to avoid scratching
When not being worn, jewellery is best kept in a dry place such as a jewellery box or pouch.
Sterling Silver
Sterling silver naturally develops a soft patina over time and may darken slightly with exposure to air and moisture. This is a natural characteristic of the metal.
To maintain its brightness:
Polish occasionally with a soft jewellery cloth
Store in a dry environment when not worn
Wear regularly — the natural oils from your skin can help keep silver bright
If tarnish develops, it can easily be removed with a gentle silver polishing cloth.
Gold
Gold is a durable metal and will naturally develop a subtle patina through wear. This gentle change in surface character is part of the beauty of solid gold jewellery.
To keep gold jewellery clean:
Wash occasionally in warm water with mild soap
Dry carefully with a soft cloth
Bronze
Bronze may gradually develop a darker patina over time. This natural ageing process gives the metal depth and character.
If a brighter finish is preferred, bronze can be polished gently with a soft cloth.
Some people may notice slight temporary marks on the skin when wearing bronze jewellery. This is a natural reaction between the metal and skin chemistry and is completely harmless.
Jewellery with Stones
Although gemstones are durable, they should still be treated with care.
Avoid knocks or impacts that could loosen or damage stones
Remove jewellery when doing physical work or sports
Avoid exposing stones to harsh chemicals or cleaning products
If a stone ever becomes loose, stop wearing the piece and get in touch so it can be checked.
Cleaning
For most pieces, gentle cleaning with warm water, mild soap, and a soft cloth is sufficient. Avoid abrasive materials or harsh jewellery cleaners.
Always dry jewellery thoroughly after cleaning.
Repairs
If your jewellery ever needs repair or maintenance, please feel free to get in touch. Many pieces can be repaired or refreshed so they can continue to be worn and enjoyed.
